Free Download

Build your own engine mount brackets that allow you to install a Volvo T5 engine into a Volvo 240 chassis.

These drawings are for personal use only. They may not be sold or used to manufacture products for commercial sale.

How to make these brackets
To build these engine mount brackets, you will need to have the parts in the drawings cut out of steel plate, cut two pieces of steel tube to size, and finally weld it all together.

All of the details
This download includes two files separated by material thickness so you can send the files directly to a service like SendCutSend to cut.

The base plates use 3/8" (0.375") or 10mm steel, and everything else is cut out of 3/16" (0.1875") or 5mm steel.

In addition to the pieces cut out of steel plate, you will need to get a section of steel tube (5" is enough) to cut to size for the uprights (shown in photos, but NOT included in the drawings).

For the uprights, I used 1-5/8" OD x .250" Wall DOM steel tube. The length needed depends upon which engine mounts you select. I use Volvo 240 Diesel right/exhaust side mounts. For lengths, I used a 35mm (1-3/8”) long tube for the exhaust side bracket, and a 85mm (3-3/8”) piece for the intake side bracket.

As you can see in the photos, a channel will need to be cut out of the pipe on the intake side bracket to clear the steering rack. You may also need to clearance the webbing on the steering rack itself.
